A Pause

A Pause
I wrote the following three paragraphs back in the summer of 2020 and they still feel so true today. I'm glad I found time in my schedule to reconnect with where I was at the beginning of this journey—it was such a satisfying experience.

My personal purpose is to create something beautiful. This business is the beginning of that and a way to explore and define what that is. It’s a way to find and trust my voice that I have so freely given away to others throughout my career. I remember saying years ago, creating something out of my ideas and putting it out in the world is the most vulnerable thing I could do. Well, here we are. I have learned I need to create to remember who I am. It’s about facing fears, feeling empowered, feeling freer, stronger,

I know it’s about comfort for women. Looking and feeling great, feeling comfortable and at home in our bodies. Standing for a certain level of simplicity and ease that comes from that and is expressed in monotone palettes.

Is there really anything new in fashion? For me, doing this is about that process of creating something from nothing, from an idea, proving to myself I can do it. I would like to build a different kind of fashion company, something not about ego, or making people feel they are lacking so they must buy--but about collaboration, being honest, attracting with beauty and ideas, being thoughtful, respectful, and responsible. I want to build quality products: material, workmanship, color, fit, enduring style, in a way that feels good and values the makers. To cultivate an appreciation for how what we wear makes us feel.
